Kelly Picard - Class of 1991 

Kelly Picard, a member of the Patchogue-Medford High School class of 1991, is currently teaching 4th grade at The Pines Elementary School in the Hauppauge school district. This is her sixth year as a valuable member of the teaching staff. Kelly is actively involved in all aspects of teaching, including membership on the school's site based management team, running the intramural club and actively participating in her teachers' union as an elected building representative.

Kelly tells us that working with her students is the best part of her job. she enjoys the challenge of working with the children from many many different backgrounds. As a fourth grade teacher , she must the additional challenge of preparing her students for several important state tests along with teaching a full curriculum. She is involved in her district's initiatives to implement the new Learning Standards, and has been trained in the guided reading approach and the use of literary blocks to enhance her skills as a reading teacher.

Kelly went to Barton Elementary School and Saxton Middle School. Kelly's memories of Patchogue-Medford High School include playing soccer and basketball. She especially enjoyed competing in the championships. She loved going to all the proms and she thought the Senior Supper was great. She tells us she really loved her high school years and sometimes wishes she could go back.
