Lauren Wheeler, a member of the Patchogue-Medford High School class of 1996, is currently living in New Hampshire and working in the Engineering Leadership Development Program for Sanders, A Lockheed Martin Company. This program allows for different rotations throughout the company while also allowing time for Lauren to work towards her master's degree. Her current rotation is as a systems engineer. Lauren attended Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania. She graduated in May of 2000 cum laude with a B.S. in mathematics, a concentration in statistics and a minor in computer science. She was the vice-president of Pi Mu Epsilon, the math honor society, and presented a statistical paper at a local Mathematical Association of America (MAA) conference. She was also treasurer of the Math Club and of SMILE (Students Making Individual Lives Enriched), a community service club. While a student in the Patchogue-Medford School District, Lauren attended Barton Elementary School and Saxton Middle School. Her favorite High School experiences were homecoming preparations and homecoming day. The teachers who inspired Lauren to major in math were Mrs. Kathy Bucaria, Mr. Art Lievre and Mr. Art Stahl. Mr. John Dolan also taught her to "always look for the good, even in a bad situation."
Lauren is engaged to be married in July of 2001 to Daniel Williams II. The Patchogue-Medford Congress of Teachers would like wish Lauren continued success and happiness. We are very proud to have Lauren Wheeler as our highlighted graduate for our Winter 2000-2001 edition!
