New members of PMCT were welcomed to the school district during a 3-day orientation from Aug. 29th through Aug. 31st. The meeting, held in the district office conference room, consisted of several speakers and introductions to the organization of the school district. Superintendent Mostow, School Board President Joe LoSchiavo and PMCT President Paul Pecorale welcomed all to the conference. Nancy Hancock, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources explained the all important substitute hotline as well as on-line certification. Assistant Superintendent for Instruction David Gamberg made everyone feel at ease with his discussion of Harry Wong's, "The First Days of School." New teachers were issued I.D. badges and after lunch were introduced to the intricacies of Special Education by Shirley Kee and MaryAnn Ambrosini.

The second day brought help with lesson plans and the observation and evaluation process. Scott Fisher, Director of Technology, discussed the technology program at Pat-Med along with the new E-School program for grading and attendance.

The final day of the conference was a workshop given by NYSUT on Classroom Management and then the new teachers went to their individual buildings with their union buddies and mentors.

The Patchogue-Medford Congress of Teachers welcomes all new teachers to our membership and wishes them success and fulfillment in their chosen career.
